Tens of millions of photos of African animals have been shot. By posting these I’m not claiming that my African pictures are better or more novel than those by other travelers. What they are, however, is a recent reflection of what you still can realistically expect to see on the “dark continent.” For how long is the question. Some of these animals are endangered already; others will be added to that list of eminent fatalities within our lifetimes. Residents say Africa is changing year by year. Global warming is having an impact on Africa today. You can SEE it. There’s no denying it. Kilimanjaro is melting, rivers are appearing where no water has been for millennia, new marshlands are making an appearance.
If you want to go, don’t wait too long.
These photos were all shot from a jeep driven by various guides in Kenya and Tanzania: Amboseli, Tarangire, Ngorongoro, Arusha, Serengeti, Oldubai Gorge (the African spelling), Maasai Mara, and the Mount Kenya Safari Club.
